YEAH FOR LONG WEEKENDS!!

YEAH FOR LONG WEEKENDS!!

Sorry for the caps but I'm just so excited. It's our first long weekend which signifies summer! Okay so the weather isn't super, super great but I'm going to be thankful that I'm not going up "north" and doing all that travelling. I'm in the good City of Barrie and we have our beautiful back yard all set up with our deck, patio, gazebo, hot tub and ready for our own personal little getaway!!

I'm really looking forward to having a few friends over. What are everyone's plans? I would love to hear what your plans are? Having company over? BBQ? Travel? Opening up the cottage? Going to a friends cottage? The opportunities are endless aren't they?

So grateful for the opportunities that exist. Do you know the meaning of Victoria Day. Now it isn't really "May Two-Four" is it?

Well, whatever you do and however you're meant to celebrate, I hope you have the chance to enjoy with friends, family, etc.

Looking Forward To Summer, Aren't You? And the Real Estate Front...

Looking Forward To Summer, Aren't You?

WOW!
What is going on with the weather? I'm totally looking forward to the weather getting better and having some sunshine back in our lives. It's amazing how it affects us all and how we all seem to be in better spirits.

I do my best to be in a positive frame of mind no matter the weather but no one's perfect and it is challenging. No one can truly be "up" all the time and you have to wonder what they're up to or rather, how is it truly possible to have that kind of disposition? It's not possible and we are human.

Well, how has everyone been doing? On the real estate front, the mortgage rates are still the lowest we've seen and I still firmly believe it's a great time to buy. If you've been thinking about a first time home buying option or upgrading to a 'newer', bigger home; it really, truly is a great time. I've been thinking about it myself but for me personally, how does one make the time to move and keep up a busy, challenging career?

I know I'd like to have a bungalow. Right now I have a two storey right now which has a lot of space and everything for us and the children. There's just something glorious and spacious about a bungalow though. The open concept and everything is just spectular. I'll know "it's the one", when I see it. I'm not a big mover either and like to give the children as much stability as possible. I love my neighbourhood too. Well, I guess I'm not moving any time soon. LOL

Income properties are good to buy too. I've been working with a lot of investors and they're definitely taking advantage of the prices. I'm pretty much a full service real estate professional. I have experience with rentals, investments, commercial properties and pretty much everything real estate related. I've either experienced myself or been educated to know. Also have other professionals in our REMAX office so you'll have the knowledge and experience of many.

Let me know if you have any questions. Remember, if you have a written agency contract with an agent, you do have to go through them though. However, if you're not, feel free to contact me and happy to help whatever your real estate goal!

Blessings all and have a great day!

I LOVE MOTHER'S DAY!

Well, mother's day is upon us so let's hope for some nice weather and fantastic day to our mothers. So, "happy mother's day" to all those whom are mothers, grandmothers and those that were born to a mother. LOL

How are you going to show your mother or grandmother love? Any special plans? Are you a mom? Would love to hear your stories.

Blessings to you my Grandma (RIP) and to my beautiful mother...where would I be without your full love, support and friendship?

Opportunities Exist - What are you waiting for and what paths will you choose?

Opportunities Exist - What are you waiting for and what paths will you choose?

It's been incredibly busy for real estate and I've had to evaluate the best use of my time. I'm very customer service oriented and had to ensure my time was not taken away from that.

I cannot get over how things are going in real estate. I do not see any change in the season and real estate at all! Given the prices, it's a great time if someone is either thinking about investing or wanting to upgrade their present home. This seriously is not a sales pitch. It's the truth and I'm seriously considering upgrading to the bungalow and home I really want. Before the prices were much higher and seeing a really, really good balance and stabilization. And the rates? The best, historically they've ever been! I suggest a variable rate, if you're good at watching the market and then LOCK IN!

If you can, try keeping your existing house and rent it out! If you can't, ensure to have it priced just right, in comparison to others in the market and "competition". This will secure it's saleability and hopefully not sit on the market too long.

I am speaking from personal and professional experience. If you've been thinking about investing, now really is the time! We won't see this for too much longer as people are putting their faith in things again and we're truly seeing a lot of development here in the Barrie area.

Anyway, I'm linking an event I have every intention of going to. I'm a fan of the Celebrity Apprentice and watched the Executive from Zappos in the episode. Outside of the odd endorsement from Scott Hamilton for the girl "eeeeeeee" and Tom Green's emphasis and ridicule on that, it's really stuck in my mind the amazing transformation and success of this online company. I'd love to hear him (Alfred Lin) speak as he's one of the keynote speakers. I also love the opportunity of networking with other real estate professionals and keep up-to-date technology-wise to see what's going on out there. Sure, I can google online, etc but better to try and be ahead of the game and get some real insight. That's some of my reasons, if you're a fellow professional, what are yours?

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine and remember, if you're looking to buy, rent, relocate, sell or invest in Barrie, give me a call and feel free to utilize my resources, experience and knowledge!

"Sexting" & What You Need To Know

"Sexting" & What You Need To Know

The title has the link to the story about a teen committing suicide from a "sexting" incident. Until today, I have to admit that I never heard of this before. WOW! What the heck is going on and boy, how the world has evolved! I don't know about you but I remember growing up and as teenagers, there was peer pressure sure, but I can't imagine what our teens and youth are going through in this day and age. Most especially with the viral videos and way technology has come, who knew it'd take on the way it has. Incredible.

My heart goes out to this mother whom lost her only child so unnecessarily. She lost her beautiful daughter because she (the daughter) had poor judgement. The teenage girl sent a nude photo of herself to a boyfriend. They broke up and of course, the boy chose bad judgement and shared the photo with kids from school. She was called horrible names and labelled her. Just so sad. The girl missed school and her heart was broken and terribly embarrassed. In the end, she hung herself in her room.

Apparently this is an epidemic....this "sexting".

WHY, WHY, WHY Girls? Not only can you ruin your reputation, did you know you could also be arrested for distributing child pornography?

Don't give anyone the power to call you names. Everyone has their own insecurities and because they don't feel good about who they are so they want to put down others.

Here are some sexting statistics*:

The percent of teenagers who have sent or posted nude or semi-nude pictures or video of themselves:
20% of teenagers overall
22% of teen girls
18% of teen boys
11% of young teen girls ages 13-16
The percent of teenagers sending or posting sexually suggestive messages:
39% of all teenagers
37% of teen girls
40% of teen boys
15 Percent of teenagers who have sent or posted nude or seminude images of themselves say they have done so to someone they only knew online.
48 Percent of teenagers say they have received such messages
71 Percent of teen girls and 67% of teen guys who have sent or posted sexually suggestive content say they have sent or posted this content to a boyfriend or girlfriend.
21 Percent of teenage girls and 39% of teen boys say they have sent such content to someone they wanted to date or hook up with.
44 Percent of both teen girls and teen boys say it is common for sexually suggestive text messages to get shared with people other than the intended recipient.
36 Percent of teen girls and 39 % of teen boys say it is common for nude or semi-nude photos to get shared with people other than the intended recipient.
51 Percent of teen girls say pressure from a guy is a reason girls send sexy messages or images; only 18 % of teen boys cited pressure from female counterparts as a reason.
66 Percent of teen girls and 60% of teen boys say they did so to be “fun or flirtatious”; their most common reason for sending sexy content.
52 Percent of teenage girls used sexting as a “sexy present” for their boyfriend.
44 Percent of both teen girls and teen boys say they sent sexually suggestive messages or images in response to such content they received.
40 Percent of teenage girls said they sent sexually suggestive messages or images as “a joke.”
34 Percent of teen girls say they sent or posted sexually suggestive content to “feel sexy.”
12 Percent of teen girls felt “pressured” to send sexually suggestive messages or images.

So, just thought I'd pass the info on in case you were like me and hadn't heard. Just another thing we can try to educate our children on and hope that if they ever do, they can stand tall and just "own it" so hopefully the embarrassment will go away quickly.

Wow! Interesting Story - Aren't we in the year 2009?

Wow! Interesting Story - Aren't we in the year 2009?

Wedding dress protest highlights immigration problem (click on my title above if you want to read the full story)

Synopsis: Canadian woman had a relationship with a man from Guinea for three years, marries him in Canada and he leaves her after 4 weeks marriage. She says her "marriage just fell apart" and feels it's marriage fraud. AND (this is the kicker), she's still on the hook for three years for him financially as his immigration sponsor.

The immigration contract Towell signed stipulates she's on the hook
financially for three years if Soumah applies for social assistance, whether or
not they're still married.
Immigration Minister Jason Kenney announced last month that he's working on a plan to crack down on immigration fraud.

Well, at first I thought, how could she know? It says she had a relationship with him for three years (doesn't say whether correspondence or if she was physically with him there). I can understand she probably feels offended and hurt. What I'm shocked about is that Canada doesn't have parameters in place for something like that. So now this woman is on the hook AND it would appear he abused the system and using her. Why should she be on the hook? There are so many things unknown and can't make anything conclusive from that article anyway but definitely......wow! That's totally backwards in this day and age, in my opinion.

Are Women Too Independent?

Are Women Too Independent?

  • Are Independent Women Too Strong for today's Man?
  • Can strong women be too independent?
  • Should married women have their own bank accounts or does that mean they aren't committed to the marriage?
  • Are strong women.... married or single... TOO strong for today's man?
  • Should finances even play a part in relationships or does that kill the romance?
We have seperate bank accounts and one for house expenses. I much rather have it that way though I know a lot of people ask my why we do this. It's my Independence and I have my own earnings and don't feel I need to justify what expenses I pay. I pay for all the children's things (school supplies, lunches, sports, shoes, clothing, etc) and have my own business to run. I've set my own budget and if I want to buy a pair of shoes or pack of gum, I do so.

When we go for dinner, we go Dutch, or I'll treat or he'll treat. We have open communication in our relationship and trust me when I say it was a lot of growing pains and finding balance but after seven years, we've pretty much got all the kinks work out. Honestly, it causes less fights too and in my opinion, no, doesn't make me any less committed to my relationship.

Well that's my thoughts on that for now. It's late and just thought I'd blog because I couldn't sleep. Would love to hear your thoughts!
